We are interested in using your Gigablox products and were wondering if it supports STP? We plan to connect multiple devices using two Gigablox modules, and we are worried about loops and each switch having the same ID which could cause UDP packet loss.
Answer:
GigaBlox does not support STP. As a Layer 2 unmanaged switch, it doesn’t have the routing logic required to manage loops; connecting them in a circle will cause a broadcast storm and packet loss.
SwitchBlox Rugged + Rugged SOM can achieve this, as it is a fully fledged layer 3 router, though can only do 10/100Mbps.
We are developing RouterCore, which will support STP and full routing capabilities and is gigabit capable. This is slated for release in Q3 2026.
