Use case for the USBblox?

Always interesting with new devices from BotBlox. But I guess that I am missing something obvious here, I’m having trouble to understand the use case for the USBblox.
Is this a USB device transported over Ethernet, or Ethernet device over USB, the later would be a standart Ethernet interface that connects to a host via USB…. Or is this something different?

Yes, this. But hopefully more reliable than the office-level ones, much better EM-shielded, and allowing you to attach any size of cooler to make sure the chip won’t overheat under load and drop to 100 Mbps.

Yep, that’s pretty much it. Essentially it’s a USB device, not a USB host.

DroneNet has potential to be both USB device and USB host to ethernet converter, but it will need some software to be developed to achieve that first.

Apologies for possible thread hijack; is this functionality likely to be in place for the expected March 4th release date? Would be very nice as a means of Ethernet-ifying a USB-only DAQ.

Talking about adding USB to Ethernet conversion to DroneNet? Unfortunately no, that’s not going to happen for March 4th. It may be released later this year but currently our focus is on OpenWRT release for Rugged SOM and SwitchBlox Pico.

A shame. I shall look elsewhere. Nice hardware though, I’m sure I’ll be back. Thanks.
