Is there management software for GigaStax Rugged?

Q:** We have been using your GigaStax Rugged switches, and I am on a new project to improve our overall network infrastructure company wide. It is my understanding there is a managed firmware available for these switches, which, if so, would help me immensely. In particular, I’m looking to operate the switch in a trunked vlan configuration. One port is configured as tagged and connected to an onboard NUC. The remaining ports are to be untagged on egress, and tagged on ingress (‘u*’ in openwrt style configuration).

A: Sadly there is no management software for GigaStax Rugged.

However there is management software for UbiSwitch. That allows port and tag based VLAN and would fit what you need.

UbiSwitch has has 11 ports (8 gigabit ports and 3 10GBASE-R ports), and is roughly the same price as GigaStax Rugged. The drawback is that UbiSwitch does not contain magnetics onboard like GigaStax does, so you’d need to add those into your baseboard. The design files of UbiSwitch are open source which you can use a design reference for the magnetics (GitHub - botblox/UbiSwitch-DaughterBoard-Designs · GitHub).
