Q: We are integrating a solid state lidar which runs on automotive ethernet at 100Mbps. It comes with a prepared cable but with a Matenet connector at its end to be connected to their connection box. We want to remove this connector and pass the unshielded cable through a cable gland and then connect it to your SPEBlox. Could you please let me know if this cabling would work?
A: Whether your cabling will work depends on the length of the cable and the type of cable. Every termination, solder joint, or change from one wire type to another reduces the effective length. Without this information I can’t say if it will work or not.
SPEBlox 100M is able to achieve 40 meters transmission range on 28AWG UTP cable. Based on your information, if you used 28AWG UTP. If you’re careful with your terminations, you would probably be able to achieve close to that range.
