Is there a “preferred” voltage for efficiency of the Puck Edge

Q: The Puck Edge can operate from 5 to 60V, with 24V as nominal. Is there a “preferred” voltage when it comes to efficiency of the Edge’s internal converter?

A: You can generally use any voltage you like, Puck Edge is designed to take an unregulated voltage and internally regulates it. I would avoid running it at 5V as that’s a bit close to the absolute minimum voltage of 4.5V (any transient could cause the device to reset). Anything like 12V, 24V or 30V would work fine. In terms of what’s most efficient, something like 8V to 12V will give you the most efficiency, but it’s marginal, we’re talking 2-5% efficiency gain.
