Can I run GigaBlox SFP from the 5V of a USB3 Port?

– Copied from customer query –

Quick question… about the Gigablox SFP board. Website says 5v-60v but dataset says minimum 5.5v. I’m just wondering if this boats will power off a Usb3 port?

Usb3 port is 5v @4.5W which seems right on your lower limit. Just wondering if this has been tested at all?

This is covered in the datasheet.

If using an unregulated 5.5V to 60V input, then apply that to the main voltage input.

If using a pre-regulated 5V input, then apply that to the 5V Voltage Input/Output (Auxiliary 5V input).

A 5V rail from a USB port applied to the Auxiliary 5V input should work just fine.
