SwitchBlox Bootloader Mode

Q: We checked your GitHub and noticed that the release notes for firmware v1.2.5 include the following fix:

“SWI C/D PHY bring up failed on power cycle due to race condition between bring up of switch chip and PHY ID register reads. Retry mechanism implemented.”

Since our systems will be deployed in a hands-free environment, this bug sounds critical, so we’d like to upgrade. Our SwitchBlox boards arrived with firmware v1.2.1.

How can we upgrade our Revision C boards from v1.2.1 to v1.2.5?

I wasn’t able to perform the upgrade over the serial interface. I have serial communication working through the top header (TX, RX, GND, and 5V), and I can access the CLI and configure the switch, but I can’t update the firmware.

I understand that Revision D boards have a more user-friendly firmware update process.

Could you please describe the easiest method for upgrading a Revision C board from v1.2.1 to v1.2.5?

A: Make sure you are running the commands within 5 seconds after power cycling. Only within the first 5 seconds after power up is the board in a bootloader mode.
