Q: What does the BB-SFP-10GLOW-T (Gigablox SFP) connect to? I am looking for 1000M with at least 100 Mbps. Coax is my preferred cable, although I do have single and double twisted pair tethers. What is the max distance for this SFP module. Do you in the future plan on making a SFP that will meet my needs. If so I would suggest an G.hn wave 2 or better format.
A: BB-SFP-10GLOW-T is designed to connect to an 8 pin Molex PicoClasp cable, carrying 10/100/1G/2.5G/5G/10GBASE-T copper signals.
This module is designed for very low power, very small, short (less than 10 meter) ranges that need 10GBASE-T.
It is not designed for G.hn, or single pair tethers, that’s a different technology.
I don’t think we will make a G.hn SFP, as there are already options on the market for that. The reason we designed this module is because all 10GBASE-T SFP modules on the market are super bulky, and also really high power consumption; not suitable for autonomous applications. So we wanted to design our own super compact, low power one.
