What material is used to insulate the wires on the wire harnesses that come with the Ubiswitch baseboard? Is it made from a low outgassing material like PTFE? What is the gauge of the wires?
Hi @Tpow
The standard harnesses (BB-PCRJ1-8-0.4 and BB-PCTL1-4-0.4) use PVC-insulated wires, which are not low-outgassing.
For environments requiring low outgassing, we can supply versions with PTFE (Teflon) or FEP insulation.
-
PTFE provides excellent low-outgassing performance but is stiffer, so twisted pairs may not hold their twist tightly.
-
FEP offers lower outgassing than PVC with better flexibility.
Let us know your environment requirements and we can suggest the best option.
Our typical requirement for outgassing is <1% TML and <0.1% CCVM.
I think the FEP would be preferable since it is more flexible but can you provide the part number and/or the ordering process for the power cable and the ethernet cables in both materials?
Thanks for the update. FEP is definitely more flexible than PTFE, so that makes sense. Before we proceed, could you please confirm whether you also require the FEP cables to meet the <1% TML and <0.1% CVCM outgassing specification?
Our current supplier’s PTFE and FEP insulation does not meet that level of outgassing performance, but we can source compliant materials or suitable alternatives if needed.
To provide part numbers, pricing, and the ordering process, we’ll first need to know how many cables you require for each type, as well as the lengths you need.
Once we have those details, we’ll prepare a formal quote.
Lead time: 4–6 weeks after payment
Minimum order quantity: 20 units per cable type
Let us know the quantities and lengths, and we’ll take it from there.
