Question:
I want to use GigaBlox Nano in a custom project and I noticed that the connector has SDA/MDIO 37
SCK/MDC 38 connections. Can I use them to access data such as port presence and load/current speed?
Answer:
The SCK/SDA pins on GigaBlox Nano can’t be used for accessing the registers inside the main chip on this board, as the chip is not capable of outputting network statistics. Instead, these two pins are used for loading of initial firmware onto the device. We provide access to them just as a precaution, if we need to load a different firmware after manufacture.
If you’re looking for something modular that can output port information, we would recommend UbiSwitch, which runs a command line interface and can output network information.
